Woom, The Convertible iPad 2 Keyboard Case

Woom has just started its Kickstarter project in hopes that its convertible keyboard case for the iPad 2 can become a reality. Despite the looks, the Woom isn't another aluminum case. It's made out of durable polycarbonate construction with a concealed, ultra-slim rechargeable Bluetooth keyboard in its base that opens up like a cash register to reveal itself to your fingers. Want to put that ultra-slim Bluetooth keyboard to other uses? No problem, it's fully detachable like the iPad 2 itself and can be paired with any compatible Bluetooth device. The Woom reminds me little of Zagg's Folio keyboard case, only that the Woom looks like it took some illegal steroids because it packs more features like 360 degree rotatable angle for portrait and landscape viewing orientations, and many levels of viewing angles.

The Woom doesn't come cheap though. For all that chunk inside that cover, the Woom will set you back $89. And that's only the pre-ordering price. Head on over to Kickstarter for more.

Twelve South's Compass Got Hit With A Splash Of Color

One of our favorite accessory makers, Twelve South, has just released two new color selections for the Compass stand for the iPad and iPad 2. In addition to the raw, silvery aluminum Compass stand, a hot looking candy apple red and stealthy black colors now accompany the heavy gauge steel easel stand. The pocket sized Compass stand folds open to let you set your iPad, or iPad 2 in various different angles. And it also doubles as a typing workstation. See it in action in our full review right here. The new color additions will look great against the back aluminum of the iPad and iPad 2, and even pop more if you've got a white iPad 2. Twelve South's Compass is available now in all three colors for $39.99.

4th Design's Amazing 4th iPad 2 Aluminum Bumper Case

You're looking at what possibly is the first ever, tue aluminum bumper case made for the iPad 2. Is it just me or does this look simply stunning? The 4th aluminum bumper for the iPad 2 is made by the same designers who created the favorable Blade aluminum bumper for the iPhone 4 called 4th Design, which are known for their precision and close attention to detail. The 4th aluminum bumper for the iPad 2 is sand blasted for that matte finished look. Creating such a massive aluminum bumper for the iPad 2 is no easy task, but it looks like 4th Design has thought about just everything. The back is fitted with rubber, anti-slip corners so that the back of your iPad 2 won't get scratched up when you set it on a table.

Large cutouts were made to insure easy access to buttons and ports alike. And there are even silicone inner lining that were applied on the inside of the 4th bumper to prevent any potential damage and scratching from being made to the iPad 2's aluminum. This reminds me of ColorWare's Grip, a poor attempt at an aluminum bumper handle for the iPad. If you like the 4th aluminum bumper as much as I do, you can pick one up for $119. Plastic just doesn't cut it anymore.

Tech21 Impact Folio, The Most Protective iPad 2 Slim Folio Around?

You might recall Tech21 from their impressive shock absorbing iBand bumper, now called the Impact Band, first made for the iPhone 3G/S. Since then, Tech21 has went under the radar for unknown reasons, but now they're back in full swing with brand spanking new cases for the iPad 2 that utilize the D3O technology which has made the company famous for its extreme impact protection capabilities. The company's latest iPad 2 cases include the Impact Folio and Impact Folio Leather. The two are merely the same except for different materials used like Apple has done with its Smart Cover offerings.

Tech21's Impact Folio for the iPad 2 is a minimalistic, slim folio offering full protection with stand and typing functions and is available in 6 vibrant colors. Slimness and vibrant colors aren't the things that make this iPad 2 folio unique, it's the D3O material that is integrated into the Impact Folio that can absorb shock and impacts in case of a drop. If this is any indication to what we saw Tech21's iBand can do, I'm sold. Tech21 hasn't posted any prices or availability at this time.

MySaver Protect Your iCables From Your Carelessness

Here's a great little add-on for those of you who don't take it so kindly on those white USB sync cables of yours. MySaver are little colorful protection shields with one mission, to protect and extend the life of them fragile iCables. And they also perfectly match the Smart Cover colors too. The MySaver cable protectors are made out of aluminum and flexible colored silicone and help prevent the problematic area of the cable from ever fraying and coming apart due to heavy use, or misuse. We're not going to judge.

Apple's USB sync cables run for $19, while the MySaver Pro comes fully-assembled on a OEM quality replacement Dock Connector to USB cable and it will set you back $24.99. You can always get adventurous by going with the MySaver DIY kit for much less at $10.99 and add it to your own cable. You can pre-order both the MySaver Pro and MySaver DIY right now at pre-order prices at Kickstarter

Fieldfolio iPad 2 Folio Case Is Here From Down Under

Australia is known for smelly Vegemite and those comfy Ugg boots made out of sheep right? Not anymore. A new case company based in Australia called Fieldfolio, has recently launched both in the US and Australia to bring classic handmade iPad 2 folio cases using traditional bookbinding methods to the masses. The Fieldfolio iPad 2 case was inspired by the classic cloth-bound book and comes in 6 different vibrant colors made from dirt-resistant, cotton-blend book linen and recycled hardcover board. The Fieldfolio for the iPad 2 also incorporates an array of magnets for a seamless closure system unlike other similar folios that use elastic bands. The Fieldfolio has also got other features like a back cutout for the iPad 2's horrible back facing camera as well as a magnetic sleep/wake functionality. So know you can finally feel how that linen texture Apple uses in iOS and OS X Lion feels like.

The Fieldfolio for the iPad 2 is expected to start shipping in late August for $69. I've got a feeling it'll be worth the wait.
