Verizon iPhone 4 Suffers Death Grip

Everyone knows that the AT&T iPhone 4 suffers from the 'death grip', but everyone thought that the Verizon iPhone 4 would have that problem fixed with the antennas at the top, but that was wrong. The Verizon iPhone 4 suffers the same exact problem the AT&T iPhone 4 does and almost even easier to do on the Verizon one then the AT&T one. Both problems can be easily fixed with a case, almost any but no one knows if Apple will be giving out free cases again to Verizon iPhone 4 owners anytime soon or if ever. Lets hope the next iPhone doesn't have this problem.

AT&T Allowing Mobile Hotspot for iOS 4.3 Users

The Verizon iPhone has one amazing distinguishing feature over the AT&T iPhone and that is the 5 person Mobile HotSpot. Any WiFi capable device will be able to connect to the iPhone and share the data connection. AT&T has not said any word on whether or not they will be allowing this feature, but in iOS 4.3 beta this feature just works. Users have been reporting it works directly with their current tethering plan, and the fee's for the AT&T mobile hotspot on other phones are exactly like the AT&T iPhone tethering plan. Hopefully this will be accessible on the AT&T network when iOS 4.3 is released.

Apple Making Universal iPhone 4 Bumper Cases

Apple smartly extended the cutout for the silent switch in order to make universal Bumper cases that would fit both the At&t and Verizon iPhone 4. Meanwhile, case companies are starting to make Verizon iPhone 4 only cases which will only be compatible with the Verizon iPhone 4 and that isn't a good way to tackle the situation. By doing this, Apple will lower the confusion with case compatibility with the two iPhone 4 models. Reports are that the updated Bumper cases are now being sold at Apple retail stores.

Thinking of Switching From AT&T Over to Verizon For the New iPhone? Not So Fast!

iPhone users in New York, San Francisco, and other areas lacking good AT&T coverage may be drooling at the mouth after the new announcement from Verizon declaring a Verizon iPhone. Verizon is widely considered the most reliable and best network the United States has to offer and many disgruntled AT&T users may be pondering the switch over.

However, that switch will come with a price. AT&T recently upped its early termination fee to $325. The fee is prorated, meaning you subtract $10 of the initial cost for every full month of your contract you complete.

RIM Announces BlackBerry Torch 9800 and OS 6

At 11am EST, Ralph De La Vega (President and CEO of AT&T) and Mike Lazaridis (President of RIM) took to the stage in NY to give the presentation all Blackberry fans have been waiting for. At the event, they announced the “greatest Blackberry ever” going by the name of the Blackberry Torch 9800 and then following the event, Blackberry announced OS 6, which will debut on the new Torch on August 12th, with the Bold 9700, Bold 9650 and the Pearl 3G also to receive OS 6 later on.

Firstly, the Blackberry Torch 9800 is the first touch screen, portrait QWERTY keyboard phone from Blackberry. (Like the Palm Pre) It has a 3.2″ 480 x 360 capacitive touch screen, 802.11n  Wi-Fi, 4GB of onboard storage with a 4GB microSD card in the Box, 512MB of ROM and 512MB of RAM, a quadband GSM 3G radio, an optical trackpad, a new feature called Media Sync that’ll let you sync your media library right over WiFi, a 5 megapixel camera and of course it runs OS 6. In America it will cost $199.99 with a 2-year contract with AT&T.

Right, on to OS 6. OS 6 is the long awaited 6th installment to the Blackberry OS. The main features of the new software apart from the name change from “Blackberry OS” to just Blackberry”, are a universal search, better social networking intergration, and the very long overdue WebKit browser with support for HTML5. As I said above, it will be available on the Blackberry Torch at launch with the Bold 9700, Bold 9650 and the Pearl 3G also to receive OS 6 later on.

iPhone 4 Coming to T-Mobile USA?

Since for ever, people have wanted the iPhone to be on a different carrier in the US rather than AT&T, mainly Verizon. We probably won't see the iPhone on Verizon until they launch their LTE network and Sprint seems to be not interested in the iPhone. But what about T-Mobile? Well, like AT&T, T-Mobile's network is GSM so Apple will not need to put a CDMA radio in the iPhone. But they will need to change the 3G bands so it will work on T-Mobile's network.

Well on to the rumour. Cult of Mac is reporting that a "highly placed source" at T-Mobile told them that there is a 80% chance of T-Mobile getting the iPhone in Q3! I know, a weird time for Apple to release a T-Mobile version of the iPhone, and we don't know if this source is even credible or what it is based on. The biggest evidence of this actually happening, is the statement from Deutsche Telekom's CEO in March, saying that "the USA branch is hoping to get the iPhone later this year".
