Migration Assistant Update for Mac OS X Snow Leopard Released

 

With the launching of OS X Lion, Apple has released a new Migration Assistant Update for OS X Snow Leopard. As pictured above it issues the following fixes:

This update addresses an issue with the Migration Assistant application in Mac OS X Snow Leopard that prevents transfer of your personal data, settings, and compatible applications from a Mac running Mac OS X Snow Leopard to a new Mac running Mac OS X Lion

This is saying its a critical update for anyone running Snow Leopard on their current Mac but planning on moving all there data over to OS X Lion.

OS X 10.6.8 Update Soon?

With Final Cut Pro X, Compressor, and Motion announced this morning, a new support document states that upgrading to Mac OS X 10.6.8 is highly recommend for users running any of the new software. Mac OS X 10.6.8 isn’t publicly available, although it has been released to developers for testing.

Updating to Mac OS X v10.6.8 or later is strongly recommended when using Final Cut Pro X, Motion 5, or Compressor 4.

Even though the support document states that upgrading to 10.6.8 is highly recommended it works fine in 10.6.7.

Time Capsule Updated To 2TB and 3TB Versions

 

This morning, along with the announcements of Final Cut Pro X, Apple has quietly updated Time Capsule to 2TB and 3TB models. There doesn’t seem to be any new features other than just the difference hard drive capacities.

Final Cut Pro X, Motion 5, Compressor 4 Now Available

 

This morning, June 21, 2011 Apply announced that Final Cut Pro X, Motion 5 and Compressor 4 are available on the Mac App Store. Final Cut Pro X has been rewritten from the ground up, with a whole new UI, background rendering, and just a ton of more features. Final Cut Pro X is available now for $299.99, while Motion 5 and Compressor 4 are available today for $49.99 each. Get it while it’s HOT!

Comcast Showing Off 1Gbp/s Internet Speeds, and New Xfinity TV

At Cable Show 2011, Comcasts CEO Brian Roberts showed off a demo of the company's latest improvements and upgrades. The presentation above shows off Xfinity TV with cloud processing and internet content from facebook and others. There was also a speed test running on Comcast production network that broke through the 1Gbps barrier. There is no word on when or if home users might see such speeds but Roberts quotes:

Comcast will keep up the pace as the internet continues to evolve

We will half to wait in the meantime to see if any of this comes true in Q3-Q4.

Kinect SDK Beta Released

 

Today June 16th 2011, Microsoft released the beta version for there long awaited Kinect Software Development Kit. This happens to not be the first development kit released for the Kinect, but is the official one released by Microsoft. It can be downloaded now for Windows 7 only for 32-bit or 64 bit.

Battlefield 3 In Stores October 25, Beta September

Battlefield 3 will be released on Xbox 360, PS3, Pc on October 25 with PC being there main platform. EA announced today that the games beta will be available in September, but you get a VIP pass into it if you picked up last year's Medal Of Honor.
