iPhone 5 May Have Dual LED Flash

Apple is rumored to incorporate a dual LED flash in the upcoming iPhone 5, a significant upgrade that will improve the lighting performance in photos taken and will help produce much more evenly lit and exposed photos. Past rumors suggested that Apple will be separating the LED flash from the camera module to help reduce "washout" in photos in the upcoming iPhone 5.  

Digitimes - Recent market rumors have indicated that Apple's iPhone 5 is likely to come with a dual-LED flash with Taiwan-based LED packaging firms Everlight Electronics, Edison Opto and Lite-On Technology being pinpointed as potential suppliers. All related companies have denied they are involved in the production of dual-LED flashes.

iPhone 5 Leaked Part Points To Redesigned Camera & Flash

As the iPhone 5 nears its official launch, parts of the alleged new iPhone 5 are starting to show up in China. This isn't anything new but we've seen parts of Apple products being leaked out on the internet months before the actual Apple product was revealed and while some were not real, many have been true leaks. This time we've got a leak of a white back glass showing a separated rear-facing camera and an LED flash placed to the far right of the camera. This would really make sense on Apple's part to improve on the flash capabilities and exposure. This ties in with parts leaked of a separated rear-facing camera and flash modules that have been leaked not so long ago pointing towards this leak being very possible. The iPhone 4's rear-facing cameras has an LED flash attached to it beneath the glass cover. 

Nook Color Gets Updated With Apps, Flash & Email

Nook Color owners will be excited to know that their colorful eReader has now been updated with popular apps such as Angry Birds, Flash for a better web browsing experience, full-featured Nook Email and last but not least, Android 2.2 Froyo OS. Flash Comes To The iPhone! Well Kinda...

 

Good news folks! You can now watch flash video on an iOS device! And how I hear you ask, by using a brand new browser called Skyfire. As you can expect, Skyfire does not use Flash exactly, because if they did Steve Jobs would kick its ass straight out the door, it converts Flash video to HTML5 so it can be played on iOS devices. However, Skyfire can't play flash games or on Hulu. 

Skyfire should be available on the App Store at 9 A.M. EST on Thursday after a wait of over a month for admission into Apple's walled garden. Check the video out below.

Vimeo Ditches Flash for HTML5

The up-next to YouTube video streaming site Vimeo, today announced it's transformation away from Flash and onto the HTML5 platform. The new HTML5 video player will not be able to played thru all iDevices, Android and other non-flash supported devices. Vimeo calls their new HTML5 player a Universal Player. The new Universal Player will seamlessly play HD content on any website using the new embed code.

Flash on the iPad

Frash is an effort to try and get Android's Flash implementation on iDevices. It is going to be on jailbroken iPad's and is developed by comex, the one behind the Spirit Jailbreak. It is only on the iPad at the moment, but they are trying to get it on the iPhone as well. 

Frash is a port of the Adobe Flash runtime for Android to the iPhone, using a compatibility layer, by comex ( http://twitter.com/comex ). Frash can currently run most Flash programs natively in the MobileSafari browser. Frash currently only runs on the iPad, but support for other devices (3GS+ only due to technical restrictions) is planned, as well as support for iOS 4.

A release is planned for when Frash is stable. Developers are welcome to join the effort at http://github.com/comex/frash – fork it and send a pull request with your patches.
